I'd call that excessive force.
Honestly, the police are using their batons in the manner prescribed for the situation while in a line, using the blunt ends to poke, BUT they are using far to much force to do it. We're suppossed to "herd" the group in a direction, but beat them into submission with the blunt ends.
ESPECIALLY not after you corner the protesters where they can't back up and you keep repeatedly jabbing them with full force. Bot done, and not cool. Those officers need to be brought up on charges.
Now, as it stands....forming a chain line of linked arms to block off access to those tents after they were told PRIOR to setting them up that tenting would not be allowed, that's the grey area, while I wouldn't call it violent protest, it wasn't technically in the definition of non-violent resistance either. Did it call for that level of force? Fuck no, it did not. That was a example of police brutality.
It's rather off you see most of these coming out of the California protests.....just saying.

I find this galling that we couldn't get police out when anti-war protesters were harassing and in some cases attacking recruiters (isolated cases for the record). Protest some fat cats and boom! Riot Cops.
