Okay, that's fair but it doesn't mean there will be a price increases, only a factor pushing for them as opposed to all those pushing against them. There's also the issue of what that tax money get used for. The money doesn't magically vanish from the economy when it reaches the government.
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

OMG, we're on page two already. :)
That's assuming that Obama and the Democrats actually manage to raise taxes.
There's also the issue of what the remaining money gets used for, and really we're looking at a deficit that's growing way out of control. We were looking at a potential default not too long ago and the Tea Party were all like "bring it on"!
These people are insane.
That's true. Though I wonder whether the forces pushing against the price increase will go up at the same time taxes are applied. That would require a double dip recession. It's possible, but I hope it's not going to happen.Cynical Cat wrote:Okay, that's fair but it doesn't mean there will be a price increases, only a factor pushing for them as opposed to all those pushing against them.

For the most part, yes. But there's always deadweight losses for any tax, which does mean that the total money does get less. This effect gets bigger the higher the taxes are, and I don't think it's terribly important right now.Cynical Cat wrote:There's also the issue of what that tax money get used for. I know and we haven't even started with the backhanded compliments and insults. The Minx wrote:OMG, we're on page two already. :)

Not so much as insane as willfully ignorant and insulated from reality. As you know, reality has a well known liberal bias.

That kind of stuff has never done anyone any good.Cynical Cat wrote:I know and we haven't even started with the backhanded compliments and insults.
I'd object to specifying a "liberal" bias, but compared with the Tea Party, I'll let it pass.Cynical Cat wrote:Not so much as insane as willfully ignorant and insulated from reality. As you know, reality has a well known liberal bias.
