Well recently Hotfoot and I have discussed such great games as Conspiracy-X, Dark Conspiracies, Call of Cthulhu and Cyberpunk amongst others.
So any of those would be great lol.

No you wouldn't just make some dark monsterous thing that makes people crazy when they so much as look at it. Then give said DMT a cult of crazy minions.
Then make people try to stop this DMT but fail and die or go crazy.
You now have a CoC game.
Now if it were me, I would suggest a Shadowrunny type game... But that's just if it were me.

I have never read a Shadowrun book.

No worries, Petro practically is a Shadowrun book. But even then you might have more fun just going with something loosely based on it.

Fear not dear Caz. We all know that I am the ultimate Ebook repository of RPG games. At over 60gigs of books I'm sure any mainstream, popular or semipopular game system you want to run chances are I have an ebook for it somewhere.
I've got Cthulhu, Shadowrun, Cyberpunk Rifts, WoD, D&D, BESM, Paranoia, Mekton, Warhammer, etc etc etc etc...
