#1 Weird mouse problems
I've noticed something strange with my mouse recentty. Every once in a while, it will either treat single clicks as double clicks or ignore them. It's not a mechanical problem, nor is my motor control acting up so it's definitely on the PC side. No driver updates, and it's not tied to any specific SW being active when it happens. So, is this just my rig tellingme 'Dude, I'm a Winblows machine so expect weird shit from time to time' or is there something I should look into?

I suggest checking into your mouse settings. Should be under "Control Panel" in Windows...you can setup and test your mouse clicking speed there.

That would work if it were treating double clicks as single ones. It's doing the reverse.Robert Walper wrote:I suggest checking into your mouse settings. Should be under "Control Panel" in Windows...you can setup and test your mouse clicking speed there.
Well, checking it can't hurt I guess.

Wireless or tailed mouse? My wireless acts funky sometimes, and I finally figured out that my cell phone was causing it.

You may not have a sense of humor, but you certainly have anger issues.Batman wrote:Truth be told I did more or less kill my first PC keyboard that way.Robert Walper wrote:Well, here's a link that might help somewhat, Batman.
Hell, you really take this Batman persona seriously, don't you? ;)

Well if we pretend for the moment that I'm not Batman, that would have been before I adopted that nickname (and that's the best you're going to get). If memory serves, it was a particularly frustrating DOOM session that did it. Besides, it was a shitty keyboard anyway.Robert Walper wrote: Hell, you really take this Batman persona seriously, don't you? ;)
Anyway, the material damage positively pales compared to the number of joysticks I killed during my CBM64 days. Of course one could argue those were merely casualties of war, as opposed to victims of my temper. :P

Just wonder: have you tried other mouse? And you said about motor control; are you using force-feedback mouse of some sorts? Force-feedback stuff is more susceptible to mechanical damage; that's why I avoid FF joysticks like a plague.
Now I really hate you! :x

According to KAN's law article 6543, anyone who destroy joysticks should be castrated and put into the same cell with sex-hungry Gungans. Why? Because KAN loves joysticks. 8-)Batman wrote:Err -come again?

I was hoping this thread would help me with my problem, but I think my mouse is just broken. It clicks, but it only registers up and down now. It won't go side to side. I'm just fine using the keyboard for everything, but it does get annoying. Oh well.

If you're using an old ball mouse, try taking the ball out and cleaning it and the the rollers inside the mouse where the ball goes.Mayabird wrote:I was hoping this thread would help me with my problem, but I think my mouse is just broken. Believe me Petro, I did. I've known that trick since high school, when I magically made my teachers' mice work again. I'm saying that manually manipulating the rollers doesn't even move the cursor.
At least it's made me remember all the ctrl and alt things.
